The Grapevine Gazette might be a new name but really we’re just having a go at continuing the work we were doing on The Mud Coders Guild monthly newsletter. Some of us involved were left with no access to the controls of the original newsletter. The half-year gap was driven by a desire to not have to re-brand this publication but in the end the gravity of not having one at all won over.
So here we are with The Grapevine Gazette. With the resurrection comes not only a re-dedication to keeping this on a monthly publication cycle but also a shift towards growing the Grapevine name. There’s a lot of excitement surrounding a well-designed and central presence for MUDs and text-only games in general. The only way to get the word out about Grapevine and text gaming as a whole is to aim all guns in that direction and fire. With the Gazette also comes the inaugural episode of Titans of Text, (
titansoftext.com) a new podcast dedicated to highlighting members and issues within the text gaming community.
The MUD Coders Guild is far from dead. The now annual game-jam will still be a part of the guild’s branding and the guild community itself is only poised to grow in step with Grapevine. The ultimate end game for all of this is to grow and support text gaming as a whole. MUDing has had a lot of divisiveness and exclusionary practices in the past and we are here to actively combat that.
So welcome to the Grapevine Gazette. We welcome all contributions related to any aspect of text gaming and hope you enjoy the articles to come.
